Bar21, our local haunt and the host for all of our meets and events over the past few years, is facing difficulties due to Covid-19! Sadly, they don't qualify for the loans that the government are offering businesses in this time of need. They are one of many who are facing shut-down due to the pandemic.

They already have a Crowdfunder campaign set up, however I think it would mean the world to them if we can pool our resources and help them out!! They have a reward on their Crowdfunder where, if someone donates £500+, their name will be immortalised on a plaque showing that they gave tremendous support for the bar during these trying times!

Of course, £500 is a lot to ask from a single individual. However, we're a local gaming community of nearly 1,400 who use the venue for all of our meets and events. We are all gamers at heart, and appreciate everything that Bar21 has done for us. We are the bees that run the city's most dedicated gaming community and we keep it tasting better than sweet sweet honey! 

Every penny from this campaign will be donated to Bar21 under one collective name: Nintendo Manchester.

If we can all pool together our donations to the bar, no matter how small, and if we can reach that sweet milestone, then we as a group can attend the next meet to see a plaque on the bar's wall with our group's name on it. Think about it:

Why should I donate via this campaign rather than the original campaign?

The reason why we've set up this crowdfunding campaign is that we can show Bar21 that, as a community, we ALL appreciate what they have done for us.

The original campaign offers discounts on drinks for a year starting the day the bar re-opens, but that requires a £500 donation. We understand that not everyone has that kind of money, no matter how big their heart is. However, if we pool together, we can show our support for the bar that has hosted our meets for years and even get a little bonus back for it as well!

We want you to donate as much as you can, no matter how small, in order to help the venue that hosts our events. It doesn't matter if it's a pound or one hundred pounds, every donation matters and is wholly appreciated.

Wait a minute... the £500 reward that Bar21 is offering also includes 20% off at the bar for a year. If we donate to this instead and we reach that goal, who gets the discount?

Aha!! We've already thought of that!

Yes it's true. At time of writing, any ONE person who donates £500+ directly to the original campaign will get a discount at the bar (presumably off both food and drink) for a year starting when the bar opens up again after the pandemic. As we are gathering donations from multiple people to put forward as a single donation, this particular part of the reward proves difficult to manage. 

However, we've been in talks with Bar21 about this and have come to a generous agreement. Anyone who donates at least £50 to THIS pledge will also qualify for the 20% discount at the bar! This means you can get the discount by only donating 10% of the reward that would normally qualify you for it.

This is, of course, is dependent on two things:

• This campaign meets or exceeds the £500 goal
• Bar21 gets the funds it needs and opens up after the ban is lifted by the government

This means that we need as many of you as possible to donate whatever you can in order to keep our usual venue open.
