Manha Mati Ullah's Story
Manha Mati Ullah, a 3-year-old girl from Karachi, Pakistan has been unable to hear the sounds around her since birth. At an age when most children are learning to speak and express themselves, Manha struggles to communicate her needs. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed a comprehensive examination and diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. To enable her to hear and speak, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. However, the surgical cost is beyond her family’s financial reach.
As she grows, the silence that surrounds her becomes a more challenging barrier, preventing her from fully experiencing the world and connecting with her loved ones. If Manha doesn’t undergo the surgery soon, she might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak. The sooner she receives the cochlear implant, the better her chances of speech and language development, which are necessary at her age.
Mahna lives in a modest rented house with her parents and three young siblings who study. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, is an employee at a private company. His insufficient monthly income hardly covers house rent of PKR 15000, utility bills amounting to PKR 8000, and mounting educational expenses. The family’s financial hardships have left them heartbroken, and they fear that Manha would grow up without hearing the world around her. During this time of need, Manha’s family contacted us and asked us for assistance.
Her parents said in despair:
“Each day brings a new challenge for Mahna. She tries to play with other children, but she doesn’t understand their words, and they don’t understand her silence. We feel helpless, knowing our daughter would continue to live in silence as we can’t afford her surgery. We request you to please help us and give Manha a healthy future.”
The cochlear implant surgery will allow Manha to communicate, play with kids, and embrace a future filled with possibilities. We need your contributions to bring sounds into her silent world. Come forward and contribute for Manha’s cochlear implant surgery.
