Ledley Hall Boys and Girls Club is a youth centre based in the Mount Ward of Inner East Belfast. Established in 1942 we have very strong links in the community and are in the privileged position of delivering youth services to young people aged 5-25 years from East Belfast and beyond.
Ledley Hall exists to help young people take control of their lives, we offer a wide range of programmes and activities including breakfast club, homework club, dinner club, generic drop-in, late night drop-in, one-to-one support and counselling services. We offer a wide range of personal and social development opportunities and opportunities to gain formal accreditations, we have participative structures in place in the form of our junior and senior members committee and we also have a Kindness Crew who operate our Kindness Hut, which shares food and clothing with the local community.
We have an IABA affiliated boxing club which provides young people with opportunities to compete at all levels.
We provide a safe, secure and inclusive environment where young people belong and thrive, we have invested heavily in the use of Makaton and are holders of the Makaton Friendly Silver Award. This award from the Makaton Charity is evidence of our committment to inclusion and communication with all young people. We have makaton and easyread signage and safeguarding information around our building ensuring everyone is accomodated.
Our dedicated volunteer and staff team create a wonderful atmosphere for our young people, this has been supported through our local education authority's moderation of our work. "The youth club is lively, well attended with a great atmosphere, it is evident there are great relationships between staff and young people and the displays to promote kindness and generosity along with inspirational quotes provides a great setting. The holistic care of the young people is evident from both physical needs to emotional needs. The youth club has programmes in place to enable young people to develop skills in planning and delivering activities along with accredited volunteering."
We are crowdfunding to offset the increasing costs in overheads experienced by our organisation due to the rise in fuel costs etc. We are also purchasing more food than ever for our children and young people, providing hot food at our breakfast club and every evening.
We will use any money raised for the rising costs in our overheads to ensure that we continue to offer a safe and warm environment to our children and young people where there is hot food provided on a daily basis.
