Hi! My name is Layla and I am fifteen years old. Storytelling has always been my creative outlet and for as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a filmmaker. Project Paradiso is a unique non profit once in a lifetime opportunity that me and 24 other promising students have been selected for.
Young Film Academy offers a number of courses across the UK which aim to bridge the gap between ambitious students and the notoriously hard to break into film industry. For the past three years I have been lucky enough to attend their residential filmmaking and screen acting summer camp. YFA has irrevocably changed me as a person, providing me with the technical, hands on, filmmaking experience crucial to communicate my stories, and introducing me to a talented network of like minded young people.
Every year YFA selects a small group of their thousands of past students to join Project Paradiso. Having previously made two amazing award winning shorts, Lemons and Strings, this year's edition of Paradiso will aim to bring several young people together on the island of Sicily. We would be accompanied with industry standard gear, and our film would be submitted to festivals around the world.
Through supporting this fundraiser you can help me and 23 other young people take our first steps into an industry that is famously hard to get into. Even the smallest amount could go far forward to helping make this project happen.
Paradiso is an all or nothing fundraiser, we all need you and your support to help us make our dreams come true. Even £1 will help us hugely towards our £82,000 goal (£3,750 being my individual goal).
There are additional corporate packages that would be immensely helpful for us. If you or someone you know has a company that is willing to sponsor us we offer corporate packages ranging from £1500 to £8200 which will offer you perks, for example being listed in our film’s credits which will likely be played across the globe at renown festivals or having your business be listed in all of our promotional material. By doing this you can be advertising your business on a global scale and additionally changing the lives of young filmmakers. Furthermore the UK offers tax benefits for companies that support the arts, which could be worth looking into if you are considering a donation.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making it this far. This experience would genuinely change the lives of the students invited onto it and would be our ticket into breaking into the film industry. Every amount counts, please consider donating and have a great rest of your day!
