Aim: Supporting local environmental conservation projects to protect, preserve and restore Lamu County now, and for the future.
Lamu County, based on the Northern Kenya coast, lies 2 degrees south of the equator, with over 180km of coastline. The county is home to exquisite environments such as forests, mangroves and coral reefs.
Lamu is on the front lines of climate change and even though her people have contributed the least towards the growing climate catastrophe, they’re the first to feel its negative effects.
That’s where we come in. Lamu Environment Foundation (LEF), founded in 2021, is dedicated to creating a network of environmental and social innovators.
We build the capacity of local organisations who dedicate themselves to protecting and restoring their environment to create a network of local environmental actors.
