Crowdfunder has teamed up with food waste disruptor and TikTok sensation Lagomchef to raise as much money as possible this Christmas for The Felix Project.
This is your chance to cook along with Martyn Odell, aka Lagomchef, in his studio kitchen in London and feature in one of his videos. Your prize will include learning new culinary skills, creating an incredible meal, and crafting recipes that reduce food waste.
It's only £2 to enter! You can enter multiple times to increase your chance of winning (and to help raise as much money as possible for those in need!). Alternatively, you can enter by post.
Your entry supports the Felix Project's 'Empty Plate Emergency Appeal,’ delivering food to over 1,000 organisations across London, combating hunger and malnutrition in the capital.
You don't want to miss out on this amazing opportunity, all while making an incredibly positive impact for those who need it most this season!
A cookery masterclass/experience and a meet-and-greet for you and one guest with food waste disruptor and TikTok sensation Lagomchef at his studio kitchen in London, UK.
Further conditions surrounding the prize will be shared with the winner once announced!
Lagomchef. A word from the man himself...
I love food… I have cooked from an early age and just bloody love it! What more is there to say!
I’ve been a chef since I was 15, and have worked across loads of different areas in the food space from restaurants to street food, cookery schools to recipe development. I have done the long shifts and been shouted at (wasn’t for me). I now take all my knowledge and cram it into chaotic cooking videos which educate you on making food taste amazing as well as trying to break down the barrier of food waste being a weird, hippy message on sustainability and climate change!
Simplicity is key… Eat The Food You Buy and you create no waste in your home.
I suppose I am not your normal chef, I did a 4 week intense catering course in Ashburton where I learnt how to think like a chef, but learnt everything I know from being inquisitive in kitchens!
My main thought process in food is “Don’t over think it”. Yes, you need knowledge in food to cook things, but if you like your beans on toast with Marmite – you go there sister!
We need to appreciate that everyone has a different palette and enjoys doing things differently. And this is where I come in, I want to unlock your joy of cooking by guiding you on how to make those choices, not making those choices for you.
About The Felix Project
The Felix Project collects surplus food from food retailers and wholesalers and then redistributes it to charities and schools that provide food for those in need. Most of this food would otherwise go to landfill or anaerobic digestion. The operation has 2 depots in London and delivers around 4 tonnes of food each day with the help of 400 volunteers.
The stats speak for themselves...
- 1.5 million adults in London struggle to afford to eat every day
- 400,000 children are at risk of missing the next meal
- Our food industry generates 3 million tonnes of good, edible surplus food each year
- 1 in 4 working Londoners now struggle to afford to feed their family
- 1 in 10 working families in London only have up to £20 a week
- 1 in 10 working families in London have less than £3 per day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
What your donation does:
- £10 donated delivers 29 meals
- £10.38 will feed a Londoner every day for a month
- £25 can provide 72 meals
- £42.55 will feed a family of four every day for a month
- £75 will provide 218 plates of nutritious food.
The ongoing squeeze on budgets this year has led to a huge increase in demand for food support. 1 in 4 working Londoners now struggle to afford to feed their family. Now more than ever, we need your help to fill empty plates this winter.
