Aim: 'KORE' is a brand new play written by Danielle de Vries to be performed at Camden Fringe in August.
This August, KORE—a raw, darkly comic reimagining of the Persephone myth—dives into the underworlds of grief, prescription drug dependence, and fractured friendships.
When Sam (Danielle De Vries) spirals into self-destruction after her father’s death, her friends Nick (Alec Osborne) and Jenna (Rianne Snape) try to pull her back to the surface. Instead, they become reluctant fellow travelers, each drowning in their own struggles. With the help of the eccentric Dr. Whimsey (Nicole Bröhl), a psychiatrist who frequents Ayahuasca retreats, her Deliveroo drug dealer Darren (Edd Pullen), and her overbearing climate activist mother Demi (Elinor Cooper), Sam’s descent into prescription drug dependence becomes a tragicomedy of survival. No heroes or gods here—just flawed humans failing beautifully together.
This production unites East 15 graduates under a shared mission: to tell powerful, unfiltered stories about real people trying (and failing) to navigate life. With an original script, live music (written and performed by Chloe Mason), and physical storytelling, KORE continues their commitment to bold, actor-driven theatre.
With your help, we will use the money we raise to cover our production costs such as set and costume and the hire of the venue and the theatre staff's services; marketing costs for the printing of posters, pamphlets and the production of a programme as well as other administration costs including public liability insurance.
Given the subject matter of our play regarding dependence and withdrawals from prescription drugs such as benzodiazepines, it is important to us that, as well as bringing this raw and tender story to life, we raise as much awareness of these issues as we can. With your support and our belief the power of theatre to create positive change in the real world, we hope to create a powerful and thought provoking production that can reach and help as many people as possible. If you, or anyone that know, has ever struggled with these issues, or would just like to know more about this injury and how to help, you can find help and information at:
