Aim: Building a platform for creative adventurous music - uniting artists, listeners, and ideas through free improvisation and sonic risk-taking.

My Story/Who am I?

My name's Lev Dudas. I am a self-taught classical guitarist who began the musical journey at 19 influences by the great Andrés Segovia, later expanding my skills through studying jazz theory and improvisation. My early experience assisting with local live events - working alongside technical crews and learning about PA systems - gave me a broad foundation in live music production and a deep appreciation for diverse genres.

The pivotal moment that revolutionized my understanding and perception of music and sounds, - and had ultimately shaped my aspirations in the musical realm - came from diverse and independent sources. Listening to the mesmerizing Jan Garbarek Group’s “African Pepperbird” LP for the first time was a revelation. It introduced me to the world of free jazz and improvised music, a spiritual and sonic realm I had been unknowingly yearning for. Influences such as Cecil Taylor, György Szabados, Evan Parker, AMM, and the AACM, along with the music of its musicians and ensembles like the Art Ensemble of Chicago, were instrumental in this transformation.

Parallel to this enlightenment came the profound impact of Arnold Schoenberg’s orchestral compositions, Penderecki's Threnody, the evocative soundtrack of “2001: A Space Odyssey,” Tangerine Dream’s transcendent “Zeit,” and Iannis Xenakis’ enigmatic “Persepolis.” Each of these works stood out for their intriguing and mysterious qualities, sparking a deep excitement within me. These experiences fueled my desire to create and engage with such captivating sounds, setting me on a lifelong journey through the expansive and ever-evolving landscape of music.

My Artistic Mission

I see the act of combining instruments and sounds not just as composition, but as construction—an art form as vital and expressive as writing a melody or sculpting silence into form. For centuries, musicians and artists have explored the possibilities of instrumental pairing—some combinations born from tradition, others from accident, necessity, or pure instinct. These sonic experiments are part of a lineage I consciously continue.

Since beginning my personal sonic journey in 2019, my focus has been on deep listening - tracing the origins of sound, uncovering its textures, and learning its emotional weight. My goal is not only to compose or perform, but to discover a singular voice, a sonic identity that is unmistakably mine. This pursuit demands constant experimentation, a willingness to take risks, and the blending of acoustic, electronic, and environmental sounds into one evolving practice. I draw from the world around me - its noise, resonance, and irregular rhythms - capturing and reconfiguring them into something that feels both personal and open-ended. Every piece I create is part of this ongoing process: a search for meaning through sound.

N|O|E|W|A Creative Music: From Curation to Creation to Curation

The story of N|O|E|W|A Creative Music began in 2008–2009, when I curated the NOEWA Jazz Workshop Series - a series of concerts dedicated to avant-garde jazz and free improvisation in Székesfehérvár, a town just southwest of Budapest, Hungary. At first, I was driven by a passion for promoting adventurous music. But as the series unfolded, my focus began to shift inward. Over the years, what started as a curatorial endeavor grew into a personal sonic practice, drawing me deeper into sound art, improvisation, and experimental electroacoustic creation. Since 2019, I’ve been developing this path under the name N|O|E|W|A, a platform for my ongoing exploration of sound without boundaries.

KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ: A Journey into Sonic Exploration

Nestled within the historic and atmospheric Fishermen’s Chapel in Old Leigh (Leigh-on-Sea), KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ is a dynamic hub dedicated to showcasing the experimental and improvised electroacoustic music, and to fostering collaborations between established and emerging musicians, sound artists, and improvisers. By bridging the gap between artists, independent record labels, forward-thinking venues, cutting-edge tech
organizations, and audiences, KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ creates an inclusive space where experimental sonic exploration can truly thrive.

With a focus on innovation and artistic freedom, KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ not only showcases groundbreaking performances but also nurtures a community that values creativity, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and the evolution of sound in all its forms.

Boasting a uniquely resonant acoustic environment, the Fishermen’s Chapel provides an intimate yet dynamic setting for unorthodox creative expression.

Sound as Structure / Structure as Sound

KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ reimagines performance as an act of construction - where each sound shapes a fleeting architecture, and each structure is born from sonic intuition. Rooted in the practices of electronic and electroacoustic musicians and sound artists, the series thrives on instability, on works that are built in the moment and never repeated. Free improvisation acts as the blueprint - a framework that resists rigidity, favoring risk, immediacy, and the unknown. Each monthly event, usually held on Saturdays, becomes a living space - raised from feedback, friction, circuitry, breath. Except for a brief summer pause in July and August, these gatherings invite audiences to step inside sound as it builds, bends, and vanishes.

How You Can Make a Difference

KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ has grown well beyond its early, exploratory stage. With over 16 concerts completed in the past 18 months - including six already in 2025 - I’ve seen a dedicated community begin to form. Loyal attendees return gig after gig, joined by new listeners who share a curiosity for sonic experimentation and boundary-pushing music. With four more performances booked through December 2025, the current season is shaping up to be the most exciting yet.

By the end of 2025, KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ will have brought together a vibrant community through 21 live gigs, 1 genre-bending mini-festival of electronic music and sound art, 2 dedicated fundraiser campaigns, and reaching a local and regional audience of over 350 people. Each event has played a part in shaping a growing ecosystem of experimental sound, where artists and listeners have met at the edge of sonic exploration.
