About the Show
#A collection of Monologues #Based on a True Story #Fortune-Telling #Love #Taiwan
Gwen, a young Taiwanese woman, is forced to confront her deepest fears and discovers she possesses "Psychic" abilities. Is this a blessing or a curse? Can she find her true self amidst the uncertainty?
Life stages are like a series of levels in a game. Are you currently stuck at a particular level? Or are you close to achieving a breakthrough?
In this play, Gwen, believing she had conquered all the challenges of her thirties, suddenly realizes these were just the beginning of new trials. Alongside her traumatizing experience, she tries different methods to rescue herself. Will she find liberation through modern psychological therapies or Taiwanese traditional customs? How will she face these setbacks and utilize her newfound abilities to continue advancing through new levels?
Through personal stories, we explore the connections and contradictions between reality and clairvoyance, aiming to guide the audience on a journey to discover their authentic voice.
For those who have felt lost or are currently wandering, perhaps this show is a sign for you!
About the Team
We, Jen Ting and Maria Pei, are the main initiators, producers, actors, playwrights, and creators of this show. Originally from Taiwan, we are currently based in Edinburgh.
We are sisters from Taiwan. When we moved to Edinburgh at the end of last year, Jen told Maria: “We must produce a solo show at the Fringe!” We applied to the Fringe, and despite not knowing anyone, we were very fortunate to meet like-minded friends who were willing to join our low-budget production. 💞
However, the show currently has no investors, and all expenses come from our savings. 😈 Therefore, we decided to register on a fundraising platform, hoping to make the show run more smoothly and ensure that all crew members receive their deserved compensation, while also giving us the opportunity to continue creating in the future!🌟
Our paths crossed serendipitously, leading to the birth of this production alongside a talented group of artists, each with their unique gifts. Inspired by our real-life stories, we aim to use this light-hearted and engaging piece to introduce more people to Taiwanese traditional customs. We aspire to create a unique and impactful work that fosters cultural exchange and look forward to sharing this play with a wider audience in the future.
