It has taken me many years to reach this point in my career. I have had several of the songs on the album on the back-burner for nearly 8 years. Now that they have all been professionally recorded in a studio, I need financial help to complete the production of my debut album, and to assist with the artistic ideas I have in order to promote the record.
My aim is to have 60 seconds from each song interpreted into a short film that illustrates the meanings behind the lyrics of each track, as well as working with some of the most interesting Glaswegian filmmakers, photographers and creatives. I plan to include the use of trained dancers in a few of these short clips too, where the groove of each track can be interpreted through dance.
Alongside the short film, artwork will play a large part in my album release. I aim to release a limited number of vinyl records. I will commission a young budding artist to deliver a cover work for the front of the vinyl, and to enhance the inner covers.
It's very important to me to be able to produce a limited run of vinyl, as this will be my first ever record and it would mean a lot to me to be able to hold a physical product in my hands!
After the vinyl has been submitted for distribution, I plan to work hard on the promotion of both pre-release, and post-release. I will do this through using my knowledge about social media, my contacts within the music industry for press, radio and new media, as well as touring with my band playing live shows across the UK.
The Album Launch will play a big part in the promotion of the project, and I would love to put on a show with a difference. I aim to have a full live band including strings, brass and a choir, live projections of the short films we'll be making for each song, as well as a small exhibition to display the cover artwork and it's progression over time. There will be coverage of myself speaking about the meaning of each song and how it was written, and new merchandise designs will be created by the same cover artist for the show to be sold.
Now is a crucial point in my career, and I believe this record release could really change the way I am perceived as an artist. I have put every ounce of my heart and soul into recording this debut album, and I'm ready to have these songs out in the world. I would just love the opportunity to be able to enhance them with visual arts, and really promote this body of work to the best of my ability, as this is extremely important to me as an artist.
I really hope to achieve success with this album, and I would absolutely love to be up there with some of the best Scottish artists. It would be great to see a woman alongside the likes of Lewis Capaldi and Paolo Nutini! I truly believe that with the right promotion, my career can be pushed to the next level!
