Kirkcaldy YMCA is currently in it’s 138th year, delivering services to young people, adults and the local community. Programmes are informal and support people to identify their needs and goals, working towards these. The work is varied and covers a wide range of aspects – personal development, activity groups and community development activities.
Much of our work is aimed at children and young people, this includes generic (open to all) youth work activities. Our open programmes attract around 6000 attendances per year by young people aged 8 to 18 years.
We also run a number of groups and services for adults who experience poor mental health and are socially isolated in their communities. These programmes all seek to encourage higher levels of participation from those attending, ensuring they have their say on the running, delivery and planning of projects and programmes. These projects also provide the first opportunity for people to begin volunteering, in a supported and structured manner, building skills, confidence and self-esteem alongside increased employability skills and work experience.
