Since beginning my work with the refugee, immigrant and asylum seeking community, I have realised that there are many barriers that they face on a daily basis which makes life in the UK harder than it needs to be. Inability to work, lack of English qualifications, lack of knowledge of English systems and language barriers all make life difficult and access to financial security even harder.
They will also find themselves housed in council property that usually comes unfurnished, and with no funds and no idea where to look for second-hand items online, it may be difficult to even find a bed to sleep on.
Recently I have been using my community network to find furniture and homewares for these people, including Ukrainian families who have recently arrived in the country. I have my faithful Skoda Octavia which has managed to transport double beds, mattresses, fridges and freezers. But...the more I help the more I realise I NEED A VAN. So please donate what you can and help me retire my poor Skoda and improve my ability to collect and deliver items to those people most in need.
