Over the last year, Kidz Ark has evolved from a far-fetched dream into to a viable business. After losing my job
of 40 years and with no real outlook for the future, I created Kidz Ark. Bringing up my own family I realised
that as a single mother coping with providing this essential necessity for my growing family, I depended on
predominately hand me downs and donations, the norm within the Caribbean society. Kidz more is about
providing the community access to Good Quality, Sustainable USED children & items, with families spending
more than 42% more on retaining a roof over their heads, clothing has been put on the back burner. Struggling
families from can purchase used clothing, toys and other items generously donated by the more affluent
sector of the community; this way everyone is a winner. This has been a relaunch of a new joie de vie, it has
taken all my strength to overcome my own personal fear of failing especially whilst dealing with my own ups
and down, but I already notice the definite benefit this support offers to families; remember there are still
birthday, wedding and every day clothing which is out of reach to the many, and I am filling this gap. I am
proud of my efforts and would not have had the courage to attempt a feat such as this without the support
from Government funded bodies. I know have faith that I can continue to help all sections of society which is
why applying for this funding will allow me to increase my marketing presence, diversify into providing school
uniforms; another hard financial knock to struggling families. It will allow me to cover start expenses such as
advertising, pick and also maybe a pick up and drop off service; I would like the research involving local
councils and communities as part of my future business plan, as well as. I see this as a long term plan especially
in this current climate, we have to all become more sustainable in all areas in day to day life.
