Kerry's (finally) running the Hackney Half!

After saying "I'm going to do the Hackney Half" a million (and maybe more!) times over the past few years, I'm finally running it - and I'm running for a cause that couldn't be more important.

Recovery should be possible for everyone

• In 2023 over 1400 people died while experiencing homelessness. Over one third of these deaths were related to drugs and alcohol.
• Over two thirds of people who are experiencing homelessness have a drug or alcohol support need.
• In recent years there has been an annual increase in the number of people who are dying due to drug related causes in the United Kingdom. 

Despite this, opportunities to access recovery are extremely limited for people who are homeless. But when people are given the opportunity to access residential detox and rehab, the results can be transformative.

That's why I'm raising money for The People's Recovery Project. 

Making recovery achievable and sustainable

The People’s Recovery Project is a truly innovative charity that takes a person-centred approach to its mission. The Project seeks to create an alternative pathway and package of support for people to access residential treatment: co-designed and co-delivered by community members with lived experience with homelessness and addiction.

These examples are currently the exception. Through shared purpose, and with your kind donations, The People's Recovery Project can continue their work to make recovery both achievable and sustainable.
