Aim: We need your support so we can keep building our network in Glasgow and beyond. We want to keep growing community and solidarity!!
No Evictions Network is centred on and led by people who are in the asylum and immigration system. We are entirely volunteer run and have been building our network since 2018. We have been hosting monthly open community meals and network meetings at our new home at the Kinning Park Complex (come say hi!).
Along with our monthly meetings, our response team has a 24-hour phone line which began in 2018 as a means to report evictions and has developed to become another way we can support each other. This network which has grown over the years was in part what supported our community in the south side of Glasgow to come together at the amazing display of solidarity at Kenmure Street in May 2021. Our response team also helps with accessing legal and medical support, applying to university and college and is often the way people have become members of the network. We also pay for essential monthly phone top-ups for our members so they can keep in touch with family and friends as well as other essential services.
We have been really lucky to be entirely funded by donations from the public and a few one-off grants. We are at a point now where we are desperately low in funds and currently can't afford to pay for bus fares, food or the hiring of the space for our next meeting. We want to not only be able to continue paying for essentials like phone top-ups and our monthly space, we would also love to develop the network and work with other groups in Glasgow to create a space not just for direct action but for joy and community.
