KEEPING SHIPMATES CONNECTED

Though small in numbers, we are a growing Branch and are seeking to raise funds to better connect with those Veterans who cannot get to our meetings in these Covid-19 times. We want to purchase IPads in order to make zoom contact with those who cannot get to our meeting due to shielding or mobility issues. We would love to take a group of Veterans to the National Memorial Arboretum near Litchfield in Staffordshire to honour the fallen of all conflicts. Also, on two wheels or two feet, we would love to arrange a march past at the national Cenotaph in London. For some, this is a long held ambition and we need all the support we can get to make this happen. For the ex Royal Navy and Royal Marine Veterans and their families in the Darlington area it is our aim to get better connected for the benefit of all. Together is better.

 I am the Welfare Secretary for the Branch and am trying to do my bit to support the ever dwindling numbers to connect with other Veterans and grow our Branch together in friendship, comradeship, unity, patriotism  and helping each other as we age. I am virtually travelling 874 miles and will give monthly updates on my progress. If you could see you way to sponsoring/donating 1p per mile that is just £8.74 that would be truly amazing. As a registered charity we can claim a further £2.19 if you are a basic rate tax-payer and  an additional £2.73 if you are a higher rate taxpayer. There are so many other worth causes out there it is mind boggling who you choose to donate to. If you choose to donate to us you can be assured that you are bringing Veterans closer together who have given so much previously and now find they are separated and socially isolated in their vintage years.
