The aim of this project is to overcome the devastating impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on this thriving and much cherished pub restaurant

We're still collecting donations

On the 20th April 2020 we'd raised £1,090 with 16 supporters in 21 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

In July 2018 I escaped the corporate world and bought the long term leasehold of the Boatside Inn. This had been my favourite pub and restaurant for some time and when i was offered the chance to buy the business, I jumped at the chance. The Boatside Inn began life in the 1700's as an Ale House and is one of the most popular, well established Northumberland country inns, frequented by people from across the North East of England as well as Cumbria.

The inn sits on the banks of the river Tyne and is particularly popular with salmon fishing fans who often book out our self catering cottages and B&B rooms for weeks at a time and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this unique part of the world. We are also very close to the world heritage site of Hadrian's Wall, which is visited by tourists and walkers from across the globe throughout the year.

The staff here at the Boatside are the lifeblood of the business. All local to the area, many of them have worked at the Boatside Inn for many years and as a result they have a keen understanding and intimate knowledge of our many regular customers, which is why we enjoy so much repeat business. The purpose behind this project is to maintain their salaries throughout the Covid-19 crisis, so that they can retain some income while the business is forced to close. Without the Boatside team in place, this business would lose a substantial part of its soul

Our restaurant seats up to 85 people and with an extensive and beautifully maintained outdoor dining area, we can cater for up to 150 diners at any one time. We enjoy a variety of live music events and community parties throughout the summer and with a recently installed outdoor wood fired pizza oven, we cater for all sorts of events, both formal and informal

The Boatside Inn is an integral part of the Tyne Valley and the goodwill and support offered to us through this recent crisis has given the whole team confidence that we will enjoy happy times once again. A full and lively Boatside Inn on a sunny day is truly something to behold and we are all relishing the opportunity to welcome back all our customers, familiar and new. In the meantime, we want to raise funds to make sure our staff can survive this awful period

Thank you for your support
