Hi, I’m Karolina — the founder, maker, packer, and dreamer behind Karolina Naturals.

I'm raising £1,000 to help take my small ethical skincare brand to the next level. Your support will go towards:

• Launching my first online store
• Paying for cosmetic product safety tests (CPSR), to offer you more cosmetics
• Buying equipment to make new water-based products like face creams and sun creams

Most importantly, I need at least 25 amazing people to pledge to qualify for the "Founded By Her" competition — so every backer counts! 

What is Karolina Naturals?

Karolina Naturals is a handmade, 100% natural skincare brand rooted in zero waste, transparency, and love for the planet.

Right now, I create:

• Natural deodorants (in 7 scents + unscented option)
• Nourishing body butters (in 6 scents + unscented)

All of my products are:

• 100% Natural
• Vegan
• Cruelty-free
• Packed in home-compostable pots made from recycled cardboard
• Free from synthetic fragrances, preservatives, or fillers
• Made with high-quality, unrefined, nutrient-rich ingredients (often organic)

Why I Started?

When I learned about how toxic some conventional products are, I started looking for more healthy versions. I bought one "aluminium-free" deodorant from Asda, but it destroyed all my clothes with stains.

So I made my own.

The first version had just three ingredients: baking soda, coconut oil, and arrowroot powder. Over time, I improved the recipe.

Women at my work noticed. They asked to try it, and to my surprise, they loved it. It didn’t stain clothes, it smelled great, and I could make custom scents just for them.

Later I paid for professional testing of my deodorants so I could sell them legally. 

Story That Motivated Me to Keep Going:

One day I stood for 8 hours in the freezing cold at Nantwich Market, selling my products as Christmas gifts.

That day, I met an older gentleman who stopped by to buy a present for his daughter.

He shared his story with me.

He told me he had advanced cancer—it had spread aggressively—and recently, his daughter had also been diagnosed with the same type.

They started to learn everything they could about how diet, chemicals, and everyday products affect our bodies.

He was aware that chemicals in cosmetic products can add to the growth and spread of cancer.

We talked about how aluminium in deodorants has been linked to breast cancer, especially when applied close to lymph nodes under the arms.

Phthalates that may be hidden under fragrance or parfum in the ingredient list are linked to reproductive issues, asthma, and developmental disorders.

I once got a lipstick that contained petroleum, aluminium, and titanium dioxide. 

We’re putting that straight on our lips — and we literally swallow it every time we eat or lick our mouth.

There are over 80,000 synthetic chemicals used in everyday products — and most have never been tested for long-term safety. We are the experiment. 

What do I offer:

My customers keep coming back for more. Now I offer eight unique scents of deodorants, and everything I earn goes back into the business.

A few months ago, I also tested my body butters, and I can now sell those in seven scents too.

We often forget, but the skin is our largest organ. 

We have to take care of ourselves and our health. Choosing natural cosmetics is one important step.

But it’s not just about us.

When we avoid synthetic chemicals, we stop polluting rivers and oceans with toxins that harm aquatic life.

When we choose zero-waste packaging, we keep plastic out of landfills (where it takes 450+ years to break down) and reduce unrecycled glass waste (only 30% gets recycled globally).

Yes, when I started, I was selling deodorants in glass jars with plastic lids. I wasn’t aware of the cardboard alternative back then, and my clients used to bring the jars back for a refill.

Why I’m Crowdfunding

Since launching 7 months ago, I’ve been working solo — making, testing, wrapping, and selling every product by hand. I’ve reinvested everything I’ve earned into the business.

But to grow, I need your help.

• I need a proper website with an online store.
• I need to pay for cosmetic safety tests so I can legally sell more products like lip balms, cleansing balms, and face oils.
• I need equipment to start making water-based products like creams and SPF moisturisers.

Who's Behind It?

I’m Karolina – a nature lover, skincare maker, and part-time horticulturist. I spend my days growing plants, formulating cosmetics, and dreaming of a healthier world.

My journey into natural skincare began with a deep shift in how I see the world — through permaculture.

Permaculture stands for permanent agriculture. It taught me to live in harmony with nature, to value balance and sustainability, and to always ask: how can I care for the earth, people, and future generations?

I’m also a passionate snorkeler and diver. The ocean feels like a magical world to me — full of beauty, mystery, and life. That’s why I’ve pledged to donate 2% of my revenue to marine conservation initiatives. I’ve seen firsthand how coral reefs are dying and marine life is disappearing — and I want to help protect what’s left.
