I want to bring more eyes and ears to Jungle music, the pioneers of the movement, new artists, the culture and its political roots.

About the Project
My name is Josephine Knights- I’m an aspiring filmmaker and photographer based in London. I’m currently in my final year of university, where I’m directing and producing my graduation documentary titled 'Junglist Genesis', a project I developed last year that I now have the opportunity to create.

'Junglist Genesis' is a short documentary that dives into the evolution of Jungle music: how it was born, the pioneers and producers who shaped it, and the cultural and political forces that gave it life. From sound system culture and pirate radio to underground raves and today’s global resurgence, this film will explore the roots, legacy, and future of Jungle- not just as a genre, but as a movement.

What We're Doing
From May 3rd–9th, a small crew and I will be interviewing legendary and emerging figures from the Jungle, Drum and Bass, and Jump Up scenes, as well as respected voices from adjacent music communities. Confirmed interviewees include: Sempra, Original Sin, Banditt and Parkland.

We’ll also be filming live events, authentic raves, and community spaces that continue to keep the Jungle spirit alive today.

Where Your Support Goes
All funds raised will go directly into making this film the best it can be. This includes:

- Hiring crew and compensating talent/interviewees

- Equipment rental (camera, lighting, sound)

- Travel and accommodation for location shoots

- Location costs, permits, and venue access

- Food for cast and crew

- Music licensing and potential costume/prop rentals

Why It Matters
Jungle is more than music- it’s a reflection of identity, resistance, and creative innovation. It shaped UK culture and inspired a generation, and its story deserves to be told with care and respect. This is a rare opportunity to capture the voices of artists, legends, and fans who lived through its rise and are still pushing it forward.

Your support will help me bring this important story to life. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference.

Thank you so much for believing in independent storytelling.

Up the Junglist Massive,

Jungle is massive.
