For over a year now I have been hosting and producing Jukebox Jury online (live streaming) and this year I have an opportunity to bring the show to the Edinburgh Fringe festival for a live audience.
The premise is that as the host of Helen’s mixtape on 365 radio, artists send me their new music to be played on radio…. But I can’t play everything.
Jukebox Jury was born to enable more music (less genre specific to Helen’s Mixtape) to reach an audience. It is based on the old tv show of the same name. I open my email inbox at random, with no prior knowledge of the track and the panel (jury) give our opinion.
Will it be a HIT or a MISS?
Putting on a show costs money, the venue, the listing in the fringe guide, the posters, flyers, staff to hand out the flyers, props/technicals/equipment etc. I want to make this as fun and interactive as possible for the audience.
I want to bring the show to the free fringe festival where the audience doesn’t pay for tickets, but donate what they can at the end of the show. Therefore, it is unlikely that I will break even or cover my costs. If you enjoy what I do and would like to see it brought to a live audience, it would be great if you could help make that happen!
I will also be live streaming the shows, so even if you can’t be there you can still enjoy it!
