Aim: Olaya is not just a film — it’s a movement. Set in the final years of Peru’s fight for independence, Olaya tells the true story of a hero.
In 2020, Javier —who initially feared the sea— was on a boat when he was thrown into the water due to severe motion sickness. That adrenaline-filled moment sparked a deep connection with the ocean and with Olaya’s heroic feat, inspiring him to undertake the same journey in 2022 by swimming from Chorrillos to La Punta.
According to research, Olaya’s father played a crucial role in shaping his son as a messenger and patriot. He was the one who initially delivered the messages, and after his departure, José had to take on the legacy.
“For me, this bond meant a lot because my father was undergoing cancer treatment. I wanted to portray and build this connection as a message of resilience. Human beings can achieve the impossible—whether it’s facing the vastness of the sea or a deadly illness. Because love can be greater,” shares Javier.
This personal connection between Olaya’s story and his own life brings a unique sense of authenticity and emotional depth.
