Mini Milton the rescued Therapy Pony
Visits some of the isolated and vulnerable residents during the Lockdown.
Hi my name is Mini Milton I am a therapy pony and live at The Shetland Pony Welfare Trust rescue Sanctuary in Abington Cambridgeshire.Lucky for me I was rescued by them in 2014 after 12 of my pony friends were involved in a tragic train accident on the Milton Railway line in Cambridgeshire.I was the only survivor as I ran away into the woods where I hid for several weeks and they eventually found me.
Life is good for me now. I have been fully trained and even have a job as a Therapy pony visiting the elderly and making people smile is the main job description .But I do know” what it is like to be up against it so during these very difficult, sad and uncertain times I have decided to use my initiative and spread the love by visiting some of the isolated and vulnerable residents in my village just to let them know we care.
I would also like to ask you to help me as I would like to try and help support my rescued pony friends at the Sanctuary as due to the lockdown most of our charity fundraising events for this year have had to be cancelled, we cannot even continue with our compost deliveries at the moment which is a huge part of our fundraising at this time of the year and helps greatly towards running costs at our lovely sanctuary .Many of our volunteers are in isolation to keep them safe and our Charity Trustees are caring for our daily needs. All the staff are volunteers we receive no government funding and rely on public support . Its double hard for everyone at the sanctuary with lots of rescued ponies to care for
So will you join me? Help my journey by sponsoring one of my daily visits to the elderly and vulnerable residents in my village. Each walk is approx 3 kilometers (quite a distance for my little legs).Help me bring a smile during the lockdown as villagers open there doors and windows to say hello (At a distance of course).Hopefully in the future they they may be able to even give me a hug .
In the future I would like to get my own transport to enable me to visit residents in other villages
Please consider sponsoring my journey for a small donation of just 3.00 and together we can share the love with some of the elderly and vulnerable in my village and also help support my rescued friends at the sanctuary.
Thank you for caring .
Big hugs. Love Mini Milton
