To support schools and parents with an education hub on eating disorders, how to spot the early signs, education on nutrition, & body image.

by JenUp Community in Bromley, Greater London, United Kingdom

JenUp is a non-profit organization specializing in the early intervention of eating disorders, and aims to give young people , parents and teachers a first-in-kind education hub to help fight the UK’s biggest hidden crisis.

The need is growing by the day, and the support is just not out there. Jenny is an ex-sufferer of anorexia, and set JenUp up to help support young people who are at the early stages of an eating disorder, so they can get their lives back on track. JenUp has now joined forces with Sam Woodfield in order crowdfund and help support support schools going forward with the JenUp Community Hub.

The hub will give teachers, parents and young people the education, tools and support they need to identify and prevent eating disorders before they escalate and become serious. I firmly believe there is huge scope for the entire health community to wise up on the most effective way to address eating disorders. The hub will contain various different types of educational materials on eating disorders, early intervention and prevention practices, body image, nutrition, sports nutrition, emotional resilience and fitness.

Sam is replicating the Red Bull time laps event by cycling 25 hours starting out at 10:45am Saturday 29th October and will finish 25 hours later at 10:45am on Sunday 30th. Sam's personal goal within the event is to cover over 700km within 25 hours. At 1am Sunday morning when the clocks go back the distance covered in the next hour will be doubled, as per the power hour at the Red Bull laps event. Jenny Tomei will assist Sam by adding distance to his distance with the team goal being over 750km. Jenny will do this by foot and bike.

This will allow us to:

- Create various different online courses and resources from expert professionals for parents, teachers and young people about eating disorders, how to spot the early signs, how to speak to someone with an eating disorder and many more!

- Provide education materials including lesson plans on eating disorders, nutrition, fitness and body image from expert professionals.

- Start-up costs for the creation of the hub

- Marketing materials for the hub

- To help sponsor various schools to have access to the hub
