Jewish Blind & Disabled was established over 50 years ago and is dedicated to enabling adults (18+) with physical disabilities and/or impaired vision, to live independently with dignity in their own apartment within a supportive environment.
Many of our tenants were not born with their disability and at some point, they faced a diagnosis that had a significant impact on their lives moving forward. We know that with the right facilities and support a disability does not mean a life of dependency and isolation that can often lead to feelings of low self-worth and further health-related issues. We aim to remove the barriers that people with disabilities face when living in inappropriate housing by providing a home that is a safe space, comfortable and where they are able to connect to friends, family and community.
We have seven developments across North West and North East London of specially adapted mobility apartments, providing over 360 tenants with a home so they can continue to carry out everyday tasks for themselves. 24/7 onsite House Managers and our alarm call systems provide additional peace of mind.
We also offer a range of services and activities; a shopping minibus, social events held in the communal lounges and gardens and assistance with collecting benefits (over 75% on housing benefit).
Jewish Blind & Disabled endeavour to offer our tenants the best of both worlds - the privacy of their own apartment and the benefit of being surrounded by a safe and warm community atmosphere.
