Jasper has started life with a fight, being born with a cleft of the hard and soft palate, he was unable to suckle and without intervention would have failed to thrive. He was surrendered to an amazing lady who tube fed him and we adopted him at 9 weeks old last year.
My children love him, as do I and he has been a joy in what has been a tough time adjusting to a huge change in my personal life.
He is a right character and attracts attention whereever we go.
We visited York with him and felt like a tourist attraction as was stopped by every other person that passed us
Unfortunately at 4 months old he developed an obsessive compulsive behaviour and we find it hard to switch him out of it.
He follows any moving light, reflection or shadow and anticipates them to such an obsession he is scraping and licking walls, doors and floors to try and get at it, and is a danger to himself and even fell on the stairs running so fast.
Not to mention the damage he is causing to my home.
He also barks once triggered which has now led to an official noise complaint despite my limits of time outside.
I am struggling to manage his behaviour and it is causing serious fatigue and frustration.
After consulting the vet, we have been told he may have a neurological condition that requires anti-epilepsy medication.
He needs a consultation, an MRI and possible treatment depending on the findings.
Behaviourist 1 on 1 sessions have been sought and been unsuccessful.
I have insurance - it is pending approval but even if they approve it, it will not cover the full cost or any other issues that arise for the rest of the year and he already has had waterworks issues which is currently racking up in cost!
Any and all support to get him the specialist checks he needs would be appreciated so much.
