Jack Massie has decided to chosen to run 26.2 miles to raise sponsorship to support the work of our Salford community hub. Here's Jack's story:

I’ve always said I’d like to run a marathon but I decided to turn that talk into action after heading into town during the 2021 Manchester Marathon. I’d only been living in Manchester for a couple of months and the buzz around the event was infectious. So, in December I signed up for the 2022 Marathon, which will be taking place on 3 April. It’s going to be a challenge to go from my leisurely jogs around Salford Quays to 26.2 miles but I’m excited for it! 

I’m raising money for MediaCity UK Church and Community Hub which provides community services such as a youth club, holiday club, and Talk English café for people in Ordsall and Manchester docks. I went to an open event for the Hub last year and was blown away by their passion for and dedication to supporting the community, particularly those who face disadvantage and injustice. The Youth Club stood out to me particularly. It’s so important that young people have a safe place to make friends and have fun.  

I’m hoping to raise £750 for the Hub to support them in this amazing work. Please send us a few quid if you’re able to, as well as a bit of luck, and any tips you might have as well!
