About Me
My name is Isabelle Coman, a recent law graduate aged 21 specialising in criminal justice and human Rights. From a young age, my ambition has been to champion human rights as a lawyer. I took part in leading a Mock Trial during my A-level studies and dedicated myself to volunteering at legal clinics throughout my university years.
Criminal justice has been a lifelong passion that has driven my academic and professional pursuits. I am deeply committed to addressing the complexities of criminal justice reform, particularly in the United States, where systemic change is critically needed.
I want to expand my focus on human rights advocacy, eager to apply my skills and dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by injustice. With a solid foundation in legal education and practical experience, I want to contribute to positive societal change and uphold the principles of fairness, specifically the right to a fair trial.
My Mission
My mission is to run 185 miles within the next 2 months - 1 mile for each inmate that is currently on death row in Texas. I am doing this to fund my role as a legal intern with the Clinton Young Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Texas committed to representing those wrongfully convicted of capital murder and awaiting the death penalty.
These individuals have endured severe injustices such as police corruption, false testimonies, racial bias, bribery, and other forms of systemic unfairness. By joining the Clinton Young Foundation under the supervision of Attorney Merel Pontier, I aim to make a tangible impact by advocating for clients, reopening and investigating their case, interviewing family members and witnesses and fighting to prove their innocence. I aim to reinforce the right to a fair trial and raise social awareness about the severe corruption and dehumanization faced by wrongfully convicted prisoners, which this foundation is a leading advocate for.
The Foundation's Impact
The Clinton Young Foundation provides free legal aid and has been successful in its work, demonstrated by the overturning of Clinton Young’s death sentence. However, the organization relies on donations to sustain its crucial mission.
This is a 3-month internship, and I have worked to save enough money for living expenses, however, your support will enable me to work as a volunteer, funding my flights and contributing towards my accommodation costs.
The Run
I will be keeping track of my mileage on Strava, hitting 3 miles a day, or 21 miles a week in order to hit my target. My Strava is linked to my Project so you will be able to see my progress, and proof of my Run.
All donations will be gratefully received!
Thank you!
