The Burgh Hall was opened on the 12th of May 1876 and the Hall handed over to the Trustees, The Lord of the Manor, the Parish Minister, and the Provost and Magistrates of the Burgh. To this day, the Burgh Hall Committee and trustees ensure that the hall continues to act as a community space in the spirit in which it was established hosting local groups and supporting events and private bookings.
A recent building survey was undertaken of the hall. The survey has indicated that extensive repairs to all elevations of the building are required due to the age of the building and the impact of the recent years of extreme wet weather conditions. These works include repointing all elevations, removal of old render on the original window openings and significant roofing and drainage works.
The survey indicates that these works are likely to cost in the region of £65,000.
The committee of dedicated volunteers are working hard to apply for grants and other charitable funding to contribute towards this target.
The Burgh Hall is an integral part of the local community. It hosts a variety of weekly classes and events that can not be accommodated elsewhere within Inverbervie. It offers opportunities for people who may be socially isolated to attend groups and supports the delivery of childcare provision in the area. The hall offers the community and wider area opportunities to come together for events like the Burgh Hall Art Show.
The Burgh Hall committee are appealing for support to help save the Hall to ensure the repairs are carried out so the hall can continue to be available for the local community and be there for residents for years to come.
