We're crowdfunding to buy new instruments so that we we can help more people bring harmony to their communities

by Julie Hoggarth in Penrith, Cumbria, United Kingdom

Drum + Brass facilitators help 100s of people each year to pick up an instrument and play with a group.

Music for community

Together with musicians and young people, local groups, volunteers and players of all ages and backgrounds we music-making communities that nurture individual development and community engagement. We work with people who face challenges of all kinds, physical and emotional, in their lives. Picking up an instrument and joining one of our groups helps those people unlock new inner strength, motivation and skills. They find themselves taking on new challenges and picking up activities they thought they had lost.

Music for everyone

Drum and Brass believes that all our communities should be represented within UK music-making, and that all who want to should be able to draw on the benefits this brings. Our music-making spaces are affordable, inclusive and collaborative. Our players are the experts when it comes to dealing with their challenges. Drum and Brass provide facilitators, venues and instruments. And together we are making a difference to the UK's music sector.

How you can help

Your donation to this crowdfunding project will help to raise £3000 to provide 10 instruments. These will give up to 60 people a week the opportunity to learn to play in one of our groups. That's 60 chances for people who would not otherwise get the opportunity, to take their lives in new and life-changing directions: to learn, play and earn in music.

This project will change lives and communities - one note at a time.
