INNER CITY LIFE

Inner City Life is a charity which seeks to provide immediate and long term support to communities (predominantly communities of colour and disadvantaged communities) within the inner city of Birmingham and its environs.

Our charity is found through a lived experience of life challenges and this lived experience lens equip us to have heightened sensitivity to both the visible and hidden challenges our service users face. We address core challenges including food insecurity, homelessness, and mental health problems.

Since 2020, over 3000 people have benefited from our free emergency foodbank, shelter signposting, and free mental health counselling service.

Pre and post COVID, our work has been peer led support and befriending predominantly with BAMER, homeless, migrant and refugee communities and especially those leaving prison. During the pandemic, large organisations closed their doors.  We didn’t, rather we increased our operating hours, did more outreach, developed food parcels and delivered more support. We felt compelled to do more because we understood through our own lived-experience what it feels like to be abandoned.
