Who are we?
Sundridge Park Tennis, Squash and Padel Club is a thriving racket sports club in the heart of Bromley, Kent. Our mission is to bring racket sports to as many people from as many different backgrounds as possible.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We have established links with many local organisations and groups who work with people in lower socio-economic backgrounds & people with wide ranging physical and mental disabilities. Our current funding raised via the Tennis Foundation is about to run out and we need a new stream in order to keep offering these valuable sessions and establish new ones.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We will be spending the money to:
1. Continue the current programmes we have with Marjorie McClure, Oxleas NHS Trust and Bromley Mencap
2. Expand the disability programme to 3 other new groups
3. Establish new low cost/free sessions for local children with lower socio-economic backgrounds who would not normally be able to afford to play
4. Use our Club and programmes to connect people together and build our social community
Community impact
We want our facilities to be opened up to members of the local community in order to spread the wide ranging health and well-being benefits racket sports can have. The feedback from our existing groups has been amazing, here's what they had to say....
"A good opportunity to surround yourself with people who have had similar struggles and helps to reinforce that you are not alone."
"They help me boost my confidence in learning a new sport and helps with moving around more during the week."
"Playing Padel has helped me meet new people and increase interest in playing group sports as well."
"Due to the severity of my mental health illnesses, I was very concerned as to how I will perform, integrate back into society etc. But now I feel like I am in a better position, I feel more optimistic about the future and my mental health has improved."
"I thought Padel was a weird sport but it's actually really fun. They've definitely helped with my mental well being in that they've got me up and out in the fresh air playing sport with other people."
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
