Your support makes a difference
Aim: Help us to turbocharge people’s social skills with the power of improv comedy. Neurodiverse-friendly workshops for everyone.
Project Aim
This project’s aim is to open the doors to the life-changing benefits of improv.
I have experienced a huge upgrade in my self-esteem and social skills over the last seven years of learning and participating in improv and interactive theatre. It has taken me to places such as Boomtown, Shambala, Burning Nest and Secret Garden Party. The results have been an explosion in my social life and my ability to build meaningful connections with people.
A good conversation is like an improv scene - when you truly listen, build on each other’s ideas, and enjoy the exchange, genuine connections develop quickly. Knowing the tricks of improv can help people’s confidence, creativity, and communication skills across the board.
The goal of this project is to develop a new range of improv courses that teaches these skills and how you can use them in the real world. These courses will be designed with affordability, accessibility and beginner-friendliness in mind, and to be suitable for neurodivergent as well as neurotypical people. They will offer a fun, low-pressure, safe environment for people to learn skills that they can use not only for performance but also in their life.
This Crowdfunder is to raise the 10% match funding and also demonstrate community interest to Arts Council England. Your support at this stage could open the doors to a £20k grant (a 10x multiplier). This will allow us to pay a fair rate to early-career theatre professionals to develop this program, and allow us to work with experienced consultants, charity partners & schools.
The final result will be a rigorously tested workshop program that will have provable benefits and commercial viability. We will be working with schools, charities, and neurodivergent organisations to test, improve and deliver these workships. Long term funding will be based on a hybrid model of individual ticket sales, corporate sponsorship, and third sector group bookings.
Why should you support us?
Every £5 we raise could be matched by up to £50 in Arts Council funding. But we need your help to unlock it.
Reasons to Donate:
A Chance to Grow: Maybe you're looking to build your confidence or connect with others. Book for one of our workshop sessions through this crowdfunder to try something new for your own creative and social development.
Make a Difference: Your donation will help us to work with people who face barriers to accessing the arts by funding a workshop place for someone else. We will be working with specialist schools and support groups to deliver this training to where it’s most needed.
Content of the courses
Our program will teach essential improv-based skills and show how they apply to social situations, including:
The power of “yes-and” to turn boring conversations into something more engaging.
Failure as a gift - embrace the fun of failure to overcome your fear of it.
Establishing authentic and playful connections through teamwork.
The tools learned in our workshops don’t just stay in the room - they are skills for life that could be used for improvised acting, teamwork, and building strong interpersonal relationships or across the wider immersive events industry.
