I'm running the London Marathon and raising funds for the IRC Middle East emergency appeal.

by Safina in London, England, United Kingdom

I'm running the London Marathon with Pana Run Club, and raising funds for the International Rescue Committee (IRC)'s emergency appeal for The Middle East.

I'm running the London Marathon and raising emergency funds for those in Palestine and the Middle East with all funds going to the IRC https://www.rescue.org/uk/country/occupied-palestinian-territory-opt

I will be supporting the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC) emergency response in the Middle East (this will support Palestine and Lebanon) providing critical aid to families affected by the ongoing conflict. The IRC is working with local partners to deliver life-saving assistance, including medical care, clean water, hygiene supplies, and essential items to civilians caught in the crisis.

The Gaza Strip currently has the highest per capita rate of child amputees globally. Over the past 15 months, thousands of children have suffered life-altering injuries, with many undergoing amputations, often performed without adequate anesthesia due to severe shortages of medical supplies. On average, more than ten children per day have lost one or both legs, leading to an unprecedented cohort of child amputees in modern history. The healthcare infrastructure in Gaza is overwhelmed, with less than half of its hospitals functional, exacerbating the challenges faced by these young patients.

The campaign focuses on reaching displaced families and vulnerable children, many of whom are living in overcrowded shelters with limited access to basic necessities. With the healthcare system on the brink of collapse, the IRC is prioritising the delivery of medical supplies, support for maternal and newborn health, and psychosocial care for those suffering from trauma.

Funds raised will go toward emergency aid distribution, mobile health services, and trauma recovery, helping to restore dignity and hope for those living through unimaginable hardship. Your support ensures that the IRC and its partners can continue to provide immediate relief and long-term recovery.
