We are building a team full of staff and volunteers from the local community to give the best quality support to young people 16+ transitioning from leaving care into independent living.
As many of us know, that transition into adulthood can be very daunting, and many of us are lucky enough to have the support of family, friends and other loved ones to help and guide us along this journey. However, many of our young people in care simply do not have this support and have to figure out how to become and adult and live independently alone.
Many of our young people in care are very vulnerable and have had bad or rough pasts, and the stress of being unsupported during a crucial time in a young persons life can lead them to a path of drugs, alcohol abuse, homelessness, sexual exploitation, emotional and mental abuse and other possible outcomes.
That is why we are important, we deliver support, advice and accommodation and ensure young people leaving care are ready to lead an independent life feeling supported every step of the way.
We aim to employ, train and pay the best staff and volunteers with experience of working with young people and people in care, we aim to involve care leavers with understanding of what challenges these young people face and adapt person centred approach into the structure and running of the department. We aim to create a healthy and positive environment that the young people can strive in appropriately and feel confident when leaving us.
