Help support the staff and students of Summer Drama!
by CENTRE STAGE SUMMER DRAMA in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
On the 28th August 2020 we'd raised £4,330 with 102 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We would like to develop outreach to communities who are lacking access to creative outlets due to financial barriers and also those with disabilities who would benefit from artistic stimulation and who can learn remotely. Also continue to develop are relationship with local business, such as our residential hosts at Slemish Barn.
Like so many during these difficult times, Centre Stage Summer Drama, is having to adapt to the new restrictions brought in.
Who are we?
37 years ago, during the height of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, our co founders, the late Roma Tomelty and her husband Colin Carnegie started weekly drama classes and our beloved Summer Drama Holidays in Guildford Castle, a week long residential drama activity week, covering all disciplines of performing arts, dance, musical theatre, choral speaking, improvisation and yes... even Shakespeare. A full on week of rehearsal and class building up to a final show for family and friends.
37 years....
That's a lot of students! Many of whom have gone on to careers in the Arts (you'll see some of them in our video!) and some students stayed for so many Summers they even went on to become staff with us!
2023 will be Centre Stage's 40th Anniversary, that would be 40 years of singing 'Theres No Business Like Show Business' at the end of every show. And even though our beloved leader Roma is no longer with us, Centre Stage wants to fight on and reach 40 years to continue to inspire more young people to experience Summer Drama and as many of our past students have said 'the best summers of their lives' ... if you don't believe us... watch our video!
With your help and donations, you can help us navigate these murky covid waters, where business' in the Arts in Northern Ireland... are on a knife edge.
What we would like to do!
We hope with your help to able to maintain an online presence, and continue to inspire young people from all over the world, to continue with their creative journey and keep the connections so many of them have made, from being with us. All being well by staying afloat this year, we can return to normal operations next year! For those who know us... the fish fingers will be back!
Also to encourage new students both at home and internationally, to come together and share their love for the Arts.
Summer Dramas approach has always been of a practical nature.
"Don't just talk about it, do it!"
The students have always been taught, by professionally trained actors, musicians & choreographers who are working in the industry. Once again With your help and donations, we can continue to employ local artists and maintain and support those struggling to find work in the industry.
