Who are we?
We are Hove Rugby Club, a community rugby club based in Hove Recreation Ground in Hove providing rugby for all.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Hove is a vibrant community club providing rugby for all ages and genders but cold dark nights and muddy pitches means one thing..... expensive electricity bills!
On the dark winter nights all training takes place under floodlights, and then the players return to the clubhouse to warm up, have a hot shower, grab a cold beer and some hot food in the bar with friends. All of which needs electricity!
Moving away from fossil fuel generated power will make us a greener organisation reducing carbon emmissions.
With lower bills we can target our funds at what we are all about, providing rugby to the community and a community hub which offers a warm but climate freindly welcome to all!
In the past three years the social touch teams have showcased the recovery of rugby at the club, with many parents now playing rugby for the first time through the provision of social touch rugby and increasingly drawing in new players from the local community. Many of these new players are now loving the touch rugby experience and the benefits to their physical and mental health of getting out and playing sport in a supportive team environment. The RFU promotes clubs diversifying the types of rugby they offer to increase the resilience of rugby clubs, we soon will be expanding our rugby offer to include walking rugby, a game designed for all ages to play and provide activity to those who have aged out of playing contact rugby..
But all this takes money, money we currently spend on our utility bills which includes a hefty electricity bill.
