In March 2023 Cyclone Freddy killed 64 persons at Nanchidwa in Malawi, 22 kids lost parents. We want to construct a dormitory for them.

My name is Albert Sharra and I am based in Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. Professionally, I am a researcher and journalist.

I have also been doing charity work through Centre for Education and Development(CFED Malawi), an organisation which I co-founded in 2015.

My family was affected by Cyclone Freddy and I lost my biological sister, her 8 months daughter and 16 cousins in Nanchidwa, Mulanje, Malawi. The whole village of Mujiwa was swept away and 64 people lost their lives. Survivors are still living in a temporary shelter at Nanchidwa Camp.

More than 20 children lost both parents to the cyclone. I want to help these children with accommodation. A 10-rooms dormitory is enough to accommodate them all.
