Palestine Speakers Corner is a volunteer led, Grassroots organisation, that was setup by local community members with the help of Mary Magdelene CIC.
This space was created in October 2023 after Israel began their recent aggression on the people of Gaza. The aim of our organisation is to provide a safe space for local members to come and share their feelings on the ongoing genocide through poetry, music and spoken word.
In Febuary 2023 we came across CADFA (Camden Abu Dis Friendship Association), a UK based charity, whose aim it is to promote awareness about the human rights violations in Palestine. CADFA began their journey in 2003 when people from the London borough of Camden made links with people in Abu Disa town in the Jerusalem suburb. At that time, the Israeli Separation Wall was being built across Abu Dis itself: in 2004, the International Court of Justice found this to be a serious human rights violations and in breach of international humanitarian law.
Palestine Speakers Corner reached out to CADFA, with the aim of becoming a partner organisation to the the charity and after a few visits and some training sessions we have successfully partnered with CADFA.
This October we, alongside Mary Magdelene CIC, are getting the opportunity to host a group of Palestinian Youth for the whole day.
We want to make this a happy memorable experience for these youth and show them the cultural diversity the City of Bradford has to offer.
We have planned a day full of activities but in order to make this happen we need to raise some money.
There is a cost of £1600 that Palestine Speakers Corner need to pay CADFA to host the visit. This will go towards flights and visas that CADFA are covering. We also need to raise money to actually take the youth out so this will cover food, transportation, gifts for the kids and any planned activities during the day.
We are planning on hosting an event in the evening for the youth to give them a chance to meet the local community and learn more about the different people and cultures in Bradford.
This event will need marketing with leaflets and posters. We are aiming to raise £3500 in total to cover all of these costs. Please donate generously because if this day is successful we will get an opportunity to unofficially "Twin" the city of Bradford to a town near Nablus, Palestine.
