Hospice Ethiopia in Addis Adaba delivers a community based comprehensive palliative care service. This involves a home care programme, out-patient clinical care and bereavement follow up. The aim of the organization is the delivery of high quality symptom control to enhance the quality of life for terminal patients and their families. This is achieved through the prevention and relief of suffering by early identification, assessment and treatment of pain as well as consideration of other difficulties the patient and their family may be facing. These services are provided for free and the unit is entirely funded through charitable donations.

In additon the nurses provide palliative care education to a wide range of health care professioanls across Ethiopia to enable them to provide equally good end of life care to their patients.
