Bridge of Hope & Empowerment

RCN 1199525, London

We are a Foodbank with a difference. We also provide a hot meals service, training, workshops, counselling and a safe and warm space for the homeless and for some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in our community to attend.

Bridge of Hope & Empowerment

Bridge of Hope & Empowerment (BOHE) was founded by the late Dawnette Legister a woman whose heart was for the people.  She loved unconditionally and has passed the mantle on.  BOHE is now led by her daughter Simonette Sehindemi who is the CEO of the charity.

The Hope Walkers will be walking on 22/02/25 in a zig-zag fashion over 12 London bridges from South Kensington and finishing at Tower Bridge, that's 10 miles (16km).  We need your support.

Help us by donating right here.  Every donation will be used to directly meet the needs of the community.

What Do We Do?

We are fundamentally a food bank, however with a difference.  Our service users find a place of belonging, a place of trust, a place where they are heard and where they are supported by our team to have some of their stresses relieved and their needs met.

What is Our Ethos?

At BOHE we are BIG on togetherness and unity.  We believe that we as a people must unite, have compassion and empathise with eachother in order to achieve change.

What Impact Do We Have?

Food Bank/Hot Meals Service - In 2024 alone we have provided over 7,280 hot meals along with triple the amount of meals provided via our foodbank programme.

Additional Services

Workshops and training are scheduled throughout the year along with debt management advice.  Support , signposting and advice is rolledout weekly to support individuals with where to go for a shower, support in being seen by a medical professional, immigration support, applications regarding housing and anything else in between.

Volunteering

Regular service users are vetted and are given the opportunity to give back by volunteering and we have witnessed how this enables individuals to feel a sense of worth, responsibility and to feel needed.

Conclusion

To conclude, we at BOHE are giving a helping hand to each individual enabling them to take a step closer towards regaining hope and to being empowered.
