The Charity was started by a Halifax businessman over 30 years ago in Kerala, SW India . We administer the charity in the UK and are all volunteers here. We run a group foster home for up to 80 children at any time. The young people are housed within the village in a house with up to 10 children and a ‘mother’. Older boys are housed in a separate youth house close by. There are 7 houses within the village and a community library, community IT centre and a house for visiting older girls who are returning to see their families. Nearby is our home for the retired mothers who are on hand for grandparent duties. All our young people are supported to reach their full potential and are assisted into further education, training or work. They are also supported through their marriages and building their own families.

1Our Mission Statement
Hope Community Village provides a homely and loving environment in which we build family groups to provide a long-term significant difference for at-risk children whose families, for a variety of reasons, are unable to care for them.
A Brief History of HOPE
Hope Community Village is a home for children in Kerala, Southern India and was the brainchild of a local Halifax businessman who had business connections with the area. In conjunction with two close friends/business associates he recognized a need to provide a safe environment for orphaned and destitute children in the surrounding area and the dream was to provide a village environment, with homes and gardens and learning facilities to provide the children with as natural an environment as possible in order to thrive and grow into independent young adults.
Many of our young people are working or being educated all over the world but they often return to Hope with their families and share their experiences with the younger children.
Hope also provides support for young people in the local community, helping with educational or medical fees and also providing a community library and IT centre.
