Support Independant Theatre and Help Bring Homo(sapien) to Life at Edinburgh Fringe!
Hi everyone, I’m Conor O’Dwyer, an Irish writer and actor, and I need your help to bring Homo(sapien)—a deeply personal, darkly comic solo show—to its full potential at the Edinburgh Fringe!
We are raising £4000 to cover our team's time to make the show, marketing and PR fees, accessible performances and so much more that goes in to making an incredibly Fringe production.
This play has been years in the making. It’s a story about growing up gay in Catholic rural Ireland, navigating faith, shame, and identity with humour and heart. It’s already been shortlisted for major playwriting awards, and now it’s set to head to Edinburgh Fringe 2025—but to get there, I need your support.
Costs include:
£400 for Outdoor Advertising around Edinburgh
£500 Venue Marketing Fee
£1800 Technical Operator for the show for three weeks
£100 Creation of an access pack, and delivery of a relaxed performance of the show
£500 Poster Image and Poster Design
£250 Flyers & Distribution
£1800 for one Performer for three weeks
and so much more. This £4000 will go a long way to supporting these costs and ensuring our team are paid fairly and adequately for their work - and that the show is seen by as many people as possible.
This crowdfunder will allow us to embark on a full run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a huge financial undertaking. We need support for this show, so it’s not just a strong script, but a fully realised theatrical experience. It will help me collaborate with an incredible creative team to craft an engaging, professional production that does justice to the story.
This isn’t just about my journey—it’s about amplifying queer voices on a global stage. Too often, LGBTQ+ stories are told through trauma alone. Homo(sapien) is about joy, resilience, and the complicated, messy, hilarious experience of growing up queer.
If you can contribute, you’ll be helping to bring an authentic, heartfelt queer story to audiences who need to see it. Every donation—big or small—makes a difference. Thank you so much for believing in this project!
