Home-Start Caithness staff and volunteers visit families at home each week, supporting parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope. We also run 6 different groups across the county for families to access during pregnancy, in the early years of a child's life, for kinship carers and for parents wellbeing. We now have our own building to create fun and happy memories, a food share facility and a community safe space!

We are so excited to have our own building in Wick!
Within this building we intend to create a happy, fun and friendly space to hold groups and work directly with families doing things like cooking classes, weaning workshops, memory making and bonding with your baby. We also intend to create spaces upstairs where people will be able to recieve counselling, where they might attend virtual meetings instead of in their own home, where they might be able to talk about their struggles and recieve compassion and kindness. There will be space for other organisations to meet people and run training sessions and we intend to work more closely with NHS Highland, Highland Council and other third sector organisations.
We have had some support from some incredible people to help us get the building and begin refurbishments but we know we will need money and time to get us to where we need to be! Over covid, our organisation has changed so much and our staff team and volunteer teams have expanded alongside the increasing demand for our service. Please join us in our fundraising - we would welcome anyone who has a skill, time to spare or a few pounds to offer us to change the landscape for families in Caithness!
