My name is Jorawar, I am the founder of London Homeless Welfare Team.
I have experienced homelessness, addiction and am now campaigning for those that are sleeping rough. Homelessness is on the increase and so is the fact that more and more people are tragically dying.
The social impact is devastating lives across the UK.
I was one of the lucky ones who was able to get the help I needed - it was life saving.
I set up LHWT on new year's day 2020 with a handful of volunteers and we have been dedicating our time to make a difference to people from all walks of life ever since.
Solution
We have now secured a food surplus donation partnership with M&S and Sainsbury’s through the Neighbourly Scheme. We are in desperate need of a suitable vehicle to expand our outreach services. We now have trained Mental Health First Aiders, Naloxone Responder - all of whom volunteer their time on every outreach. We are a not for profit - Community Interest Company (CIC).
We have been realistic with our funding needs and the £2000.00 will be used for food, drink, clothing and various other logistics. We are currently using a car for this and so are not able to meet the needs of service users who desperately rely on people like us.
Why are we best placed to deliver?
We have built excellent trust within the homeless community and do our very best to provide an outstanding service. The need for expansion is urgent and this cannot be achieved without the kindness of supporters.
