We aim to lessen the fear of crime in the community by employing and training young local people to install perimeter alarm protection.

by John in Bootle, Merseyside, United Kingdom

Securing Boundaries CIC is a new not-for-profit community interest company dedicated to benefiting local residents in neighbourhoods experiencing high levels of multiple deprivation, including crime and anti-social behavior. The organisation aims to reduce the fear of burglary through regular community meetings and the installation of security systems on perimeter garden walls and fences. These meetings have revealed that many homes have inadequate or no security, making them prime targets for criminal activity. The impact of these crimes extends beyond the loss of property and damage, affecting families and the wider community.

Securing Boundaries CIC seeks to work within these communities to raise awareness of the impact of crime, inform and support residents in considering home safety and property security systems, and launch a practical solution to the fear of burglary by having local residents install new security systems on their boundary walls and fences. The program aims to offer a sustainable project through training, job placements, and work opportunities in security system manufacturing and installation. The initial project length is estimated to be 12 months, after which Securing Boundaries CIC will continue developing new products for the market. The organisation anticipates that its successful business model can be replicated in other inner cities facing similar crime and anti-social behaviors.
