Aim: To show the film Holy Shit in Shrewsbury.and prompt community discussions on alternative ways of dealing with our waste, without water.
I’ve been working with water, artistically, for over twenty years.
At festivals I run a small space called Clean Stream, where we provide drinking water from a tap, while advising people on safe water fetching practice and re-use clean overspill water to run tiptap hand wash systems.
I also create and display artwork made from plastic bottle tops that address plastic pollution especially in water, the nature of the value added water that is purchased in a container with a plastic bottle top, and the misuse of our rivers as waste sluices.
I arranged for a showing of Holy Shit in Shrewsbury to fertilise conversations about how we deal with our waste growing forward, in a more civilised manner than 'flushed away' with drinking water.
I think it is important for the film to be shown for free for a wider cross section of our community to view it, and take away ideas to share with others, particularly those concerned about the state of our streams and rivers.
The timing of the film was to coincide with the build up to the Severn Spirit Procession and People's Assembly for Water on World Water Day, March 22nd in Shrewsbury, hosted by the local water campaign group Up Sewage Creek.
There were a good number of attendees, with the venue receiving donations that covered their costs of opening.
I am asking for help with the funding of the film because it cost £250 for the right to show it for one night in Shrewsbury.
For those who missed the viewing, or anyone who'd like to watch it again, the film is available to watch on on-line for £9.81: https://holyshit.global/watch-holy-shit-now/
