The year 2024 is a particularly poignant year for the Hollie Gazzard Trust as it is our 10th anniversary, and 10 years since Hollie was tragically taken too soon. Our mission is to help others avoid what Hollie and her family have gone through, by raising awareness, providing education, and offering tailored support to those affected by domestic abuse and stalking.
We created the Hollie Guard app to empower individuals at risk of domestic abuse and violence, to have a tool that can keep them safe. Hollie Guard essentially transforms your smartphone into a personal safety device. Since then, the app has grown exponentially and currently has well over 500,000 downloads. It has become a go-to tool for anyone who wants to feel safe – not just victims of abuse. You can travel alone, attend work meetings on your own, go on a run or even walk to a friend’s house knowing that you can reach out to your emergency contacts with a simple shake or tap of your phone.
Hollie Guard has Secure by Design, the official Police Crime Prevention Initiative seal. It is used by a number of Police Forces across the UK and we are closely partnered with nine Police Forces. To date, it has helped Police investigations on over 60 cases of crime.
How does Hollie Guard work?
Once an alert has been raised, video and audio footage is saved on to the Hollie Guard server, so even if you lose your phone, evidence will still be captured. You can keep a log of all incidents and build a timeline of events.
As Hollie Guard has grown, so have the costs associated with maintaining the app and keeping to our high standards. Hollie Guard is free to download, and we want to keep it that way. We know it makes a difference, hundreds of people have contacted us to inform us of the positive difference it has had on them.
Many young and vulnerable people rely on Hollie Guard for their personal safety and we want to keep it free and available for all to use.
