The Hillcrest Community Centre needs to build resilience and organisational stability for the sustainability of the centre, which has been at the heart of the Newhaven since the end of the Victorian era and run by the community since 1998.
We provide low cost room hire and support for dozens of community organisations and charities and this funding will enable us to develop new trading income partnerships and make the centre more efficient and attractive to new groups as well as improving current facilities. The non-profits who use our rooms help hundreds of residents each week and it is vital that we remain viable long term to support them.
The Hillcrest Community Centre receives no statutory local government or central government funding and has to fundraise through grant bids and rely on the kindness of patrons in the community to operate alongside our hire income.
