At Chesham Connect we love creating fun, free, family events in our wonderful High Street. All funds raised make these events possible.
We are a community group of volunteers who love our wonderful town and want everyone to get together and have a good time whilst celebrating our fabulous High Street.
Whilst we get as much money as we can from grants and sponsorship, we still need a bit extra as costs keep rising and funds become harder to find.
Why do events?
Because research shows that the most important thing for the success of a High Street is for local people to feel an affection for it. Associating the High Street with good times from a fun event makes our town better!
Why free? Why not charge?
There are plenty of fun events that charge but we want our event to be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their income. Everyone is welcome and everyone is included.
Why hats? Why pancakes? Why dinosaurs?
Hats..because we wanted a simple hook for our festival that was easy for people to take part in, hats are great for that. And because of the mad hatter Roger Crabbe who lived in Chesham after the Civil War.
Pancakes...because we wanted to revive the pancake racing tradition in Chesham. And because we have two experts referees on our team.
Dinosaurs....because kids love them, they are a bit educational, and we wanted an excuse to get in an inflatable dinosaur outfit.
