Empowering young people to succeed

At hyh, our mission is to break the cycle of youth homelessness in Hertfordshire. We know the security of a stable home is the foundation for young people to grow and thrive.  

We are proud to deliver a service that not only supports young people who have become homeless but also works proactively to prevent homelessness. Our expert and big-hearted support workers, advisors and educators give young people the skills they need to confidently move forward in life.

Transforming lives 

Many of the young people we help have been through difficult experiences and trauma in their lives. And these young people often do not have a support network around them during difficult times. 

This was true for Omar, a care leaver, who was unable to rely on his family for support. Our services helped fill this gap. Our team work intensively with young people like Omar to help them overcome the difficulties they are facing. 

As well as helping young people find a home, we also support them to develop crucial skills needed to live independently, such as budgeting and maintaining a tenancy. 

Under our care, Omar is not only growing more confident in managing his home, he is also thriving in his career as an electrician. Omar is the proud recipient of an Under 30s award for excellence and promise in his sector.

Times are currently very challenging for young people, especially for those who are already vulnerable. And these pressures are causing a surge in the number of young people being pushed into homelessness. 

We believe in the potential of all young people and know that a stable home provides the foundation for bright futures. And with your support we can continue to empower the young people in our community.
